'Real Housewife' Dina Manzo divorces husband after 7 years

The end of a marriage generally has significant financial and legal consequences for both parties. A divorce may also involve a dispute over child custody or visitation rights if the couple has children. Readers in Morris County will be interested to learn about the upcoming divorce between celebrity Dina Manzo and her husband.

Manzo, a former star of the television reality show "Real Housewives of New Jersey," is divorcing her husband after seven years of marriage. Manzo disclosed the news on Feb. 2 via Twitter, saying the couple had been separated since October of last year. She added that she and her husband would continue to share a special love and that she was grateful for the support of her friends and loved ones during this period.

Manzo is 40-years-old and has a 17-year-old daughter from a previous marriage. She married her current husband in 2005; his older brother is married to Manzo's sister.

Manzo and her sister have been estranged for the past two years since Manzo appeared on season 4 of "Real Housewives of New Jersey." Her sister is also a cast member on the show and a rival of Teresa Giudice, whom Manzo appeared to support.

Persons going through a divorce will often choose methods other than litigation to end the marriage, such as collaborative divorce or mediation. These methods are typically less emotionally stressful and less expensive than going to court to litigate a divorce.
